German Apple Pie

I'm always incredibly impressed when people bake from memory without consulting their iDevice or cook book. What I love most about this recipe (other than the taste) is how simple the batter recipe is...one of everything...I think I can manage that.

Happy baking! (recipe below)

 Mom peeling and slicing apples
 Sprinkled with cinnamon sugar
Danny's brilliant utilization of the cookie cutters!
...so happy to be almost done. I made her pose like this.
...but this gem was all her own.
Final product (note the disappearing stencil)

Filling:
8-10 Apples
1tbs Cinnamon Sugar

Batter:
1 c Sugar
1 c Flour
1 Egg
1 stick of Butter (room temp)
1 tsp Vanilla

Preheat the oven to 350F. For assembly, simply peel and slice the apples. Next sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Combine the batter ingredients and crumble over the apple filling. Bake the pie for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes and serve with vanilla ice cream!
